Edward James Dickson was born in Los Angeles, California on July 25, 1987. Dickson was SuperPrep All-American ranked as the nation’s No. 6 prep tight end prospect while attending Bellflower High School. Edward James was the top player at his position in the Western United States. Dickson led the Bellflower Buccaneers in receiving and quarterback sacks, made 28 catches for six touchdowns and over 400 yards his senior year to earn CIF Southern Section lineman of the year by L.A. Times. Edward Dickson was first-team all-suburban league selection before leaving Bellflower.
Edward Dickson showed his natural athletic ability at the University of Oregon when in 2006 he was shifted to the defensive line during fall camp. Dickson was the second-leading tackler and had a career-best three stops against Stanford Cardinals. In 2007, Edward Dickson had more receiving yards than any of Oregon Ducks tight ends in the past three years. Dickson also made more passes than any other Oregon Duck tight ends ever. Edward had a career-best six catches against both California and Arizona that year.
In 2008, Edward Dickson set career highs with 508 yards and an average of 14.5 yards per catch. Dickson was second on the team in receiving yards and fourth in receptions. At 6’5” 243 lbs, #83 is the second Oregon Duck tight end to bench press 400 pounds or more.
